Maine Coon – great cat breed for first time cat owners

As we are regularly asked this questions we thought that it would be a good idea to write a blog post about it, so that we cover this question once and for all. So what kind of cat breeds are great for first time cat owners. Answer to that question will vary from person to person, and there’s no one cat breed that is the correct answer. Even the Exotic Catz team will have different answers, and today you’re going to hear my recommendation, and that is the Maine Coon.

Maine Coon – great cat breed for first time cat owners

Main Coon is what I have, so I might be a little bit biased, but these little guys are purrfect for those who would like to see what all the fuss about owning a cat is. They are probably the oldest cat breed native to North America. Main Coons are large cats with long hair, and they are very social. Those who have Main Coons will tell you that Coons are very friendly and playful.

Folks who have previously owned a dogs will love Main Coon, but they are a cat breed that is most similar to a dog. Farm houses and homeowners with pest problems will especially benefit from having a Main Coon on the premises, because they are notorious hunters. Another perk of having a Coon is that they are possible to train to some degree, which might come in handy if you are a first time pet owner. They get an A+ from the Exotic Catz team.
